Cox-Flexion distraction is a special form of conservative therapy that allows the chiropractor to gently stretch and flex a patient’s spine at the same time. While the patient lies face down on a specially designed table, the chiropractor has the ability to control the movement of the table in multiple directions. This allows for a very controlled stretch and movement of the patient’s spine that gently decompresses the disc, joints, muscles and ligament within and around the vertebral column. While this technique is especially effective on disc injuries it also has beneficial effects on such conditions as facet joint syndromes, spondylolisthesis, spinal stenosis and spinal degeneration.
